How to Use Pepper Spray Effectively to Survive an Attack
Pepper Spray For Defense - www.selfdefensecorp.com
Learning how to survive an attack by using pepper spray is discussed in the recent
Self Defense Corp newsletter. One of the most important things to remember is to
never warn an attacker when carrying pepper spray or the plan to use the pepper
spray, advises the recent Self Defense Corp newsletter. Surprise works best,
so do not place focus on the pepper spray canister, advises the newsletter or the
attacker may try to take it away.
The recent Self Defense Corp newsletter reveals that police are taught to spray
with their weak hand, leaving their strong hand free to go for their gun if
necessary. This is good advice explains the newsletter, because even when not
carrying a gun or baton, victims still want their strong hand free to block an
attack, grab or strike the assailant.
Never allow a potential assailant to get closer than 10 feet, advises the Self
Defense Corp recent newsletter, because pepper spray doesn't work as well close
up, it needs a bit of distance. Also, the effects of pepper spray are not
instantaneous, reveals the Self Defense Corp newsletter so it needs a few seconds
before the full effects are felt. Even if the attacker does get closer than 10
feet, don't hesitate to use it anyhow, advises the newsletter.
In fact, one technique that law enforcement uses to subdue suspects is to spray
pepper spray on their hand and rub the suspect's face with the pepper spray,
however remember that this is the least preferable option, advises the recent Self
Defense Corp newsletter. If a threatening person closes in, warn them to stop,
then if they ignore the command, assume they intend to cause bodily harm and,
therefore, stop the threat explains the recent Self Defense Corp newsletter. Spray
them now, advises the newsletter, and don't let them close the gap.
Another reason to carry pepper spray, in addition to a firearm reveals the recent
Self Defense Corp newsletter, is in case of an encounter with a vicious dog,
spraying it could cause a lot fewer problems than shooting/cutting/striking the
dog, advises the newsletter. In addition to the legal issues surrounding
discharging a firearm, killing a neighbor's dog will likely cause a lot of strife,
explains the recent Self Defense Corp newsletter. Simply using pepper spray could
stop a dog attack and diffuse the situation without having to tell anyone what
happened, reveals the newsletter.
Carrying pepper spray provides options, and greater flexibility in how to defend
from an attacker, plus how to handle a particular threat. People are safer with
pepper spray than without it, explains the Self Defense Corp newsletter. Subscribe
to the Self Defense Corp newsletter to get more of these self defense survival
tips.

Choosing The Right Stun Gun For You
How to Choose a Stun Gun
I am often asked "There are so many to choose from, which stun gun should I get?" Your final decision should be to buy the stun gun that closley matches your own criteria for use. After all, you will be the one that will be using it.
Here are the most important considerations that I tell my customers to consider before buying a stun gun.
1. Voltage - Higher Is Better
Plain and simple, higher voltage means faster immobilization. This simply means raw stopping power. Higher voltage also means the current can pass through more layers of clothing quicker and get the job done faster. If you test fire a high voltage stun gun (anything above 800,000 volts), the electrical current running between the test prongs creates a bright spark. The loud, crackling sound is unmistakable and is often enough to send a would-be attacker running in the other direction.
However, if the bad guy keeps on coming, you are holding some serious stopping power in your hands.
Stun Gun Effects:
Touching an assailant for less than one second will cause minor muscle contractions and have a repelling effect.
Touching an assailant for one to two seconds will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state.
Touching an assailant for three to five seconds will cause loss of balance and muscle control, total mental confusion, and disorientation.
All effects to the assailant are temporary; a stun gun should cause no permanent harm.
2. Stunning In Style
Today's stun guns come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and even fashionable colors. Let your lifestyle and needs dictate your choice here. If you are petite and want a unit that will fit comfortably in your hand, consider one of our smaller units. One model is so small that it can fit inside of a regular pack of cigarettes.
If you like the idea of a disguised self defense weapon, consider one of the look-alike models such as a cell phone, pen, lipstick, perfume or flashlight.
Our larger models are often chosen by law enforcement, military, and security personnel, starting with stun batons. They come in typical lengths from 10 inches to 18 inches. The extra length provides a reach that you cannot get from a smaller unit. We even carry blast knuckle stun guns. A great fistful of stopping power, if the stun feature isn't enough to stop the bad guy, you are still holding a mighty punch enhancer.
3. Features
Personal Alarms - Many stun guns provide double duty and boast a powerful personal alarm. As soon as you find yourself in danger, press the button and the built-in feature sounds an ear-splitting alarm. This extremely annoying noise will attract attention and send the would-be assailant in the other direction. In addition to stun gun stopping power, the alarm feature adds a extra level of protection to stop an assault before it happens.Flashlights - We carry many different models that work as a functional flashlight AND a stun gun. No more fumbling with the keys to your car or home on a dark night. You can have a bright flashlight if you hear a bump in the night, but it will also double as a powerful stun gun for some serious home and personal protection.
Disable Pins - Many stun devices boast a wrist safety strap attached to a disable pin. If an attacker manages to get the stun gun away from you, the pin is pulled from the bottom of the unit. The stun gun will not work without the pin in place. This means that the assailant can't turn your own weapon against you.
Rechargeable Batteries - To recharge your unit, just plug it in for 8 hours about every 60 days and you're good to go. There's no running to the store or keeping track of spare batteries. You're always ready. Plus, all rechargeable stun guns come with a manufacturer's warranty which typically covers the battery for up to 100 recharges.
Longer Reach - Anything that gives you an edge in a dangerous situation is a good thing. With our selection of Flashlight Stun Guns, Expandable Stun Batons and regular Stun Batons, you can gain a significant distance advantage when confronted with a close quarters combat situation. As an old martial arts teacher of mine used to say, "an inch longer is an inch stronger". Just like in professional boxing and MMA, that extra "reach" could make a big difference when you really need it.

Advantage Of Having A DVR Camera System
Homes and businesses need to ensure that their properties are well protected these days. This is why the emergence of many different security camera, CCTV, DVR, and hidden camera systems are being sold on the market. But, how important is it to install these security measures? Do they even make a difference? Let’s find out more about it.
To start with, security cameras come in a variety of designs and styles. Many differ depending on the features and specifications, while others may vary greatly depending on the size and the price of the product. Researching the different types of these security systems and cameras available will help you determine the right one for your needs. Whether you like it or not, violent crimes occur at the most unexpected times. A burglar may simply break in to your business or home, and take everything that you have worked so hard for. On the other hand, a robbery can also happen while inside your store, and without a hidden camera or CCTV system installed, it could be quite difficult to catch the prime suspect.
This is the main reason why most stores and even homes have decided to install their own DVR or CCTV systems. It allows the monitoring of their properties, and just in case something bad happens, the suspect can be easily brought to justice. Because of the popularity of these security systems, they can easily be purchased online and installed yourself.
Let us admit it – security cameras, CCTV, DVR systems or even a hidden camera may not be inexpensive. But, the cost pays for its advantages. Many people would prefer to keep their home and business secure, rather than lose their investment, properties – or even worse, a life. Although some are expensively priced, there are still many ways on how individuals can purchase a DVR security system without having to spend too much. Practical ways are always offered all over the World Wide Web, and it is just a matter of knowing where to find affordable, yet high quality security camera systems.
SDC Self Defense Corp is an example of one such company which allows individuals to purchase CCTV cameras and other security systems at a very affordable price. Being in the business for years, the company is capable of providing only the best security systems available at prices that are affordable for everyone. With their wide range of options available on their website, online shoppers would surely love to browse and search for the perfect type of DVR or hidden camera that will suit their preferences. Regardless if you are looking for a replacement for your old DVR, or whether you’re looking to install a new security camera system for your business, you will surely find everything that you need here. With their extensive experience in this industry, there is no better place when it comes to security systems and other related products.

PHX-800 Stun Gun Review
Ok, we have been getting alot of questions regarding this particular Self Defense Weapon lately. I have been getting at least 2 to 3 calls a day, as well as, 23 emails this week alone, all with questions on this new low price Stun Device.
We started carrying it in our inventory about a month ago and have tested and reviewed the effectiveness of this new Stun Gun.
OUR FINDINGS:
The PHX-800 came out onto the market at a lower than average pricepoint than most comparable Stun Guns go. Most devices that fall into the same retail price range (which is anywhere from $19.99 to $29.99) do not typically have a rechargeable feature built into the device.
The PHX-800 comes in 2 basic colorways - Black and Pink. It has a built in retractable wall socket recharger, and a bright LED flashlight. It is plastic molded for a good, non-slip grip and only weighs 4.4 ounces. It also comes with a free black nylon belt holster, is mini sized, and conceals easily - It is only 4 1/4" tall, 2 1/8" wide and 1" thick.
It can be used as a deterrent to a crime, just by test firing the PHX-800 into the air can be enough to stop an attacker or an aggressive activity. As the bright electric current pulsates between the 2 prongs it creates an intimidating electrical sight and sound. Any attacker with any sense at all should stop in his tracks right then; and so, if the sight and sound doesn't stop him, a jolt from this powerful little device certainly will!
This stun gun does not rely on pain for it's primary results. (Although, it does hurt quite a bit!) The energy that is stored in the PHX-800 is dumped right into the attacker’s muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker’s blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, the attacker is unable to produce energy for their muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. Also, should the attacker be touching you while you are stunning them, the current will not pass to your body!
As far as the actual voltage of the PHX-800, we do not have a reliable way to test this. The manufacturer boasts a whopping 6.8 million volts! However, the thing that really matters the most when testing a Stun Gun is the amount of AMPS it is actually putting out, not the voltage. Although, the higher the voltage, the faster it does push the AMPS.
So, we did a test to see what AMPERAGE was really produced by this Stun Gun. The PHX-800 that we tested put out a total of .0035 AMPS. That was enough AMPS for just a quick 3 second contact with this little device to make a 180 pound grown man collapse to his knees! (Just like I did!)
The one drawback that we found is the out of the box defective ratio for this stun gun was about 1 in 10. Which means, for every 10 that we bought 1 did not work. Defects from manufacturing are a typical and normal aspect with all electronic devices, but this ratio is a bit high in our experience.
We went through our entire order and tested every single unit. This is something that we always do for our customers when we ship our orders out anyway.
Overall, after testing out this new Stun Device, we determined that for the reasonable price, the PHX-800 is an Excellent Non-Lethal Self Defense Weapon.

Simple Personal Protection Items
Did you know that simple items in your pocket or bag can be very useful when you are suddenly attacked? If you do not look to tools such as tasers, stun guns or pepper sprays to be safe, simple things such as keys, pencils and spare change could prove to be your best friends in an emergency.
Wondering how?
Your keys are the most effective tools at hand when it comes to protecting yourself from an attacker. Just pull them out of your pocket or purse, and use them to stab the attacker in the throat and eyes. This does not cause permanent damage, but it is enough to stun an attacker giving you time to escape. Pencils, rulers and pens can also work, instead of keys.
If you have a little loose change, this is the time to put it to use. Grab as much as possible in your hand and throw it on the face of the attacker. This will throw them off guard and give you time to run away from the spot.
Any aerosol spray in your purse can prove to be as useful as pepper spray when you are in the face of danger. Pull it out of your bag and spray it at the face of the attacker and run away before they can realize what is happening.

Campus Safety Tips!
Campus Safety Tips
Self Defense Corp
- Learn what help campus security can offer to increase your safety. If their services are only available in certain areas or if they do not patrol some portions of the campus at regular intervals, then this is valuable information to you.
- Most campuses have excellent provisions for lighting the most traveled paths after dark. Stick to these.
- Often the security for each dormitory is lax, if it exists at all. Make sure that you keep your room locked at all times.
- Consider registering your more valuable items with the campus security to make identification easy.
- Let a roommate or friend know where you are going and how long you might be gone when you leave campus.
- Always enlist the company of at least one other person when jogging or exercising outside.
- Do not wear headphones as they can seriously impair your ability to predict and avoid a confrontation.
More Fundamentals
- Freshmen should "respectfully decline" to have photo and personal information published for distribution to the campus community. Fraternities and upperclassmen have abused this type of publication to "target" naive freshmen.
- Study the campus and neighborhood with respect to routes between your residence and class/activities schedule. Know where emergency phones are located.
- Share your class/activities schedule with parents and a network of close friends, effectively creating a type of "buddy" system. Give network telephone numbers to your parents, advisors, and friends.
- Always travel in groups. Use a shuttle service after dark. Never walk alone at night. Avoid "shortcuts".
- Survey the campus, academic buildings, residence halls, and other facilities while classes are in session and after dark to see that buildings, walkways, quad-rangles, and parking lots are adequately secured, lit and patrolled. Are emergency phones, escorts, and shuttle services adequate?
- To gauge the social scene, drive down fraternity row on weekend nights and stroll through the student hangouts. Are people behaving responsibly, or does the situation seem reckless and potentially dangerous? Remember, alcohol and/or drug abuse is involved in about 90% of campus crime.
- Carefully evaluate off-campus student apartment complexes and fraternity houses if you plan to live off campus.
Residence Safety
- Doors and windows to your residence hall should be equipped with quality locking mechanisms. Room doors should be equipped with peep holes and deadbolts. Always lock them when you are absent. Do not loan out your key. Rekey locks when a key is lost or stolen.
- Card access systems are far superior to standard metal key and lock systems. Card access enables immediate lock changes when keys are lost, stolen, or when housing assignments change. Most hotels and hospitals have changed to card access systems for safety reasons. Higher education institutions need to adopt similar safety features.
- Always lock your doors and 1st and 2nd floor windows at night . Never compromise your safety for a roommate who asks you to leave the door unlocked.
- Dormitories should have a central entrance/exit lobby where nighttime access is monitored, as well as an outside telephone which visitors must use to gain access.
- Dormitory residents should insist that residential assistants and security patrols routinely check for "propped doors" - day and night.
- Do not leave your identification, wallets, checkbooks, jewelry, cameras, and other valuables in open view.
- Program your phone's speed dial memory with emergency numbers that include family and friends.
- Know your neighbors and don't be reluctant to report illegal activities and suspicious loitering.
Some of the above safety tips were taken from Security on Campus, Inc at www.campussafety.org which is an excellent resource for education on campus security.
Recommended products for campus safety:
College Safety Kits Great packages for Campus safety.
Diversion Safes Store valuables in common objects that thiefs won't think to look.
Wireless Alarms All types of door and window alarms as well as infrared motion detectors.

One of the Top Self-Defense Products on the Market
There really is no telling when and where crime could occur. What we do know is that statistical data doesn’t paint a very good picture. When circumstances aren’t that good or could potentially become worse, people cannot be blamed for wanting to protect themselves. This is probably the main reason why self-defense products, such as the pepper spray, continue to be bestsellers. People simply must have a means or tool to rely on in order to defend themselves, their loved ones and their property. Today, pepper sprays remain as one of the top self-defense products in the market. And with good reason.
Why pepper sprays work:
Although formulations for pepper sprays differ slightly depending on the manufacturer, they are all based on the substance called Oleoresin Capsicum. This is a substance found organically in certain species of plants we generally know as peppers.
Oleoresin Capsicum or OC is a substance that is very irritating when applied to the skin of humans and most animals. It is especially irritating when applied on the mucus membranes, which are commonly found on the eyes, mouth, nose, throat and the stomach.
As a substance, OC produces burning sensation, inflammation and general irritation on the affected area. It can also lead to gagging, choking and coughing. It can also cause the eyes to tear up uncontrollably.
Pepper sprays as a top self-defense weapon:
A pepper spray is highly effective as self-defense weapon because of its effects. It can cause momentary blindness, difficulty breathing and general confusion due to extreme irritation. It is well-suited for many people including police forces and private individuals because it is non-lethal.
Pepper sprays are also considered as a top self-defense weapon because they do not lead to permanent physiological damage. The effect is only temporary, although it could last for at least 5 minutes and up to about 15, depending on the physical makeup of the attacker, his emotional state and also the dosage sprayed upon him. For people needing a self-defense tool, that 5- or 15-minute gap wherein the attacker is disabled is usually sufficient enough to fight back, run away from the scene or call for help.
Another reason why pepper sprays are top self-defense weapons is that they are convenient, lightweight and easy to conceal and carry. Most canisters fit in the palm of the hand and may be kept in the purse or pocket. Pepper spray containers are also frequently sold disguised as ordinary objects, such as a pen, lipstick, mobile phone, pager or even a ring. Users have easy access to the gadget and can readily use them should the situation call for it.
A pepper spray also does not need specialized training to use. It’s a pretty straightforward and simple device that most people can turn to as a reliable self-defense weapon. Furthermore, it’s generally legal to own and use and is quite affordable.
